Chapter Six

I was at my desk barely able to get any work done because I was wondering what was going through Tasha’s mind. Had making love to my best friend cost me her friendship? If she would just talk to me we could figure this out together. I picked up my phone one more time and dialed her number for the fifth time this morning. Voicemail.

“Tasha we need to talk about this. Avoiding me is not going to help the situation. Call me back please.” As I hung up Mr. Johnson came waltzing in my office.

“Donovan, let me introduce you to our newest associate, Josh Reynolds. Josh this is Donovan Black. He will be showing you the ropes.” I stared at Mr. Johnson a second longer than I should have considering he was my employer before I turned to Josh to shake his hand. I hated when they just threw new people on me without telling me. They knew he was starting today. They could have told me last week.

Mr. Johnson left and Josh sat down in an empty chair across from me. “I guess they didn’t tell you about me,” he said with a smile.

“You caught that. Yeah. But it’s alright. I guess I will tell you about the case I am working on and we will go from there.”
